Mothers’ Union is an international Christian organisation that seeks to support families worldwide with prayer and practical help.

In 81 countries, 4 million members share one heartfelt vision – to bring about a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships.  As a worldwide fellowship, Mothers’ Union members are well placed to deliver a global expression of Christian care for families right where it matters – in the heart of local communities.  Seeking to nurture individuals, families and whole communities we:

  • Pray for relationships to be flourishing and loving

  • Campaign for social justice for those on the margins and for greater recognition of the value of stable family life

  • Enable development of all kinds: economic, relational and personal so that marriage and family life are strengthened.

Working with some of the most marginalised communities in the world our volunteers and trainers help people lift themselves out of poverty, improve health and hygiene and family relationships.

Swansea and Brecon Diocese extends from rural mid Wales to the South Wales Coast, from Knighton in the north to the Gower Peninsular in the south.

Our Branch here in St Catherine’s Church, Gorseinon was formed in 0ctober 1936 and continues to be a very active Branch with 70 plus members.  We are very supportive of our Diocese and Deanery and get involved with all the projects and work undertaken by the Mothers’ Union.

We also have our own projects within the Branch such as providing cup a soups, pot noodles and toiletries for the young homeless in Swansea, we also knit squares to send to a hostel for young ladies in Uganda who have been abandoned by their families because they have become pregnant. These projects give you a very small idea of the work that we as Mothers’ Union members undertake to try to support people to help lift themselves out of poverty, to improve health and hygiene and family relationships.

But most importantly, prayer is the heart beat of the Mothers’ Union and members worldwide are united each day by a 24 hour Wave of Prayer.

Our Branch meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday afternoon at 2.00pm in the Church Hall and our EMU’s (Evening Mothers’ Union) meets on the last Thursday of the month at 7.30pm, also in the Church Hall.
