Who is Jesus?

Jesus was a Jew who lived two thousand years ago in Israel, and he is the person at the centre of Christianity.   He never became a powerful ruler. He never led an army. In fact, he died young.  But today, millions of people all around the world worship him.

"I am a historian.  I am not a believer.  But I must confess as a historian, that this penniless preacher from Galilee is irrevocably the very centre of history."

H. G. Wells

We believe that Jesus is not only at the centre of history, but that he is at the very centre of our lives and our communities.

We believe this because of who he is. He is the Son of God. He surprised the world by coming among us, living a perfect life, dying on a cross and rising again to give each of us the opportunity for forgiveness, for life that goes beyond death, for life in all its fullness.

In His actions on the cross and in His victory over death Jesus assured us of His love, forgives our mistakes and opens a way to relationship with God so that those who believe, those who follow Him, can live lives of purpose and power and bring peace to a troubled world.
